This and the previous 5 photos are closeups of malt extract. Yep - the very thick syrupy stuff made from malted barley that many homebrewers use as the base ingredient of beer. I had some that had been kept too warm, and it started fermenting a little bit on its own. Its so thick that the CO2 bubbles stayed in it, and were very very fine. When I poured it out of the container, the 'foam' swirled around and made these patterns. I tried hard to keep the lens from touching it as I shot these very close closeups.
