One of the largest download sites outside of iTunes. eMusic works on a subscription basis - some $$ per month allows you to download a certain number of tracks - which is great if you don't want all the tracks of an album.  All genres are represented, from classical choral to indie hiphop. Plenty of smaller indie labels.
