As usual, its been far too long since I've posted anything. And as more
usual, this will be short. But, I've got several things to write
about, so I'll post again soon - I just wanted to at least get this
entry on line so people can see the
photos from my recent week with my sister Sarah and niece Bethany.
This year they decided to come a
little later, in the middle of June, and aim for better weather than we
got the last couple visits in the early spring. And sure enough, we had
glorious sunny days, never too hot. We did several things here in the
East Bay, but some of the highlights included a pre-release screening
of Ratatouille at Pixar, playing with the kids next door, and a day at
Oakland's 'Children's Fairyland' - a cross between a glorified
playground and a small amusement park, complete with petting zoo,
merry-go-round, and small train.
Of course every time they come visit we make a point to eat out a a
variety of places that aren't available in rural Vermont. This year we
sampled Dim Sum, Korean BBQ, German cuisine, Indian buffet, and
Vietnamese Pho, as well as plenty of meals cooked at home.
We did manage to get out of town for a couple days - we took the
camper van out to the state beach at Half Moon Bay, a small town on the
Pacific Ocean, south of San Francisco. And on Saturday afternoon,
before flying home, Sarah and Bethany got to meet and hang out with
some of my friends here - Peter & Kari Menez and their 1yr old
daughter Deva (of whom I have several photos already in my gallery)
and BJ and Mel Rigney and their 2mo. old daughter Logan.
At the ripe old age of 5, Bethany has become a total ham for the camera, so most of the pictures are of her.
Enjoy, and I'll try to get more thoughts on line soon.
