The Den

After finally confirming my decision to go this year, 3-1/2 weeks ago I finally bought my Burning Man ticket, and I've been prepping furiously ever since.  The last time I was there was 2003, so I expect things will be a bit different from what I remember. And even more different - I'm camping on my own in my Westy this year. In the past I've always camped with a small group and thoroughly enjoyed it, but this year those friends are widely dispersed.   There will be lots of people I know at Black Rock City, and I plan to hang out with most of them, but camping on my own will give the week a very different feel - a good one I think.

I've been feeling the need for a vacation that wasn't "for" other people (visiting someone, having someone visit me), something akin to a road trip or overseas travel. I think I need to do those things soon too, but going to BRC solo should give me a little of that, and still provide contact with friends, in a very foreign environment.

Of course, I'll be posting lots of pictures and blogging when I get back, so I hope you'll all enjoy it.

PS: if anyone reading this is going to be on the playa, look for me in the area of 3:30-4:00, between Grassland and Intertidle.  Look for the maroon VW Westfalia with brown eyes
